The Chauvin’s family’s story
History backgrounds !
To know the origins of the “Complexe Le Lac” we have to go back to the beginning of the 20th century. In a Haut-Doubs’ typical farm, the Magrin family opened the Hotel Beau Site and the Restaurant du Tramway, which corresponds to the left side of the Hotel Le Lac as we know it today. In 1939, during the Second World War, the Hotel was requisitioned by the German army, who transformed the dining room into a garage.

When the Armistice was signed in 1945, the hotel was requisitioned again, this time by French organizations, in order to accommodate deportees and refugees.
The story began in 1949 with the hotel Le Lac’s purchase by Fernand Chauvin, horse-dealer in the village of Les Grangettes in the Jura. After years of hard labor and courage, he succeeded and the hotel grew slowly.

- In 1994, a new restaurant opened its doors: Restaurant du Fromage. The cheese lovers’ clients can enjoy a fondue, raclette or tartiflette in a hand-carved wooden frame.
- In 1999, that’s the turn of the restaurant A la Ferme and hotel de la Poste to offer its own traditional cuisine and 10 rooms all comfort.
- In 2017, the Chauvin’s took up the challenge to create Les Rives Sauvages a 4* hotel with a wellness center, spa and indoor pool next to the edge of the lake. With its 16 suites, this hotel is completing the accommodation offer in Malbuisson combining comfort, modernity and peacefulness.
- Today, the Chauvin Family works on a daily basis in all the establishments of the Complexe Le Lac to bring satisfaction to all its customers and make them spend a friendly and relaxing time on the shores of one of the most beautiful lake in France.
